From neighborhood to neighborhood, Timișoara City Celebration is spreading throughout the city
Between July 31 and August 3, 2026, organizations funded through the “Culture Now” program will expand the Timișoara City Celebration program to neighborhoods, squares, parks, independent cultural spaces, and less conventional venues for experiencing art—from Kuncz, to Braytim and Fabric, the city’s celebration reaches diverse communities and urban spaces.
In the 2026 edition of Timișoara City Celebration, the events funded by the Municipality of Timișoara through the “Culture Now” program, run by the Center for Projects, highlight a vibrant, participatory city that is connected to current themes: inclusion, memory, technology, literature, artistic research, cultural education, well-being, community, and broad access to cultural experiences. The program spans a wide range of genres and gives meaning to the theme and central message of this year’s edition—One City. A Thousand Ways to Experience It. Diversity: from a DJ booth open to the general public and a fair for independent publications, to a mobile photo lab, literary tours, interventions exploring emotions in public spaces, energy harvesting workshops, performance-readings, community art with refugees and migrants, water tours, recitals, organ music, a pop-up science museum, sensory theater, parties, and nighttime video mapping. It is a selection that speaks to the present not only through aesthetics, but also through the way it invites the public to actively participate.
In this configuration, the “Culture Now” program becomes one of the finest expressions of diversity—of a city that can be explored simultaneously through play, reflection, encounter, learning, memory, and experimentation. The program brings to life both the city center and its outlying or alternative areas, and this widespread presence across the city reinforces the message of an urban celebration experienced in many different ways.
From July 31 to August 3, 2026, Timișoara City Celebration transforms the city into a grand celebration of community, culture, and urban experiences. The central message—“One city. A thousand ways to experience it.”—invites the public to discover Timișoara through different perspectives, communities, and experiences. In this context, the event continues the platform dedicated to promoting major festivals and cultural organizations that contribute to the city’s creative identity.
The “Timișoara City Celebration” event is funded by the City of Timișoara and coordinated and co-organized by the Center for Projects and the House of Culture.
