Every year on August 3, we celebrate Timișoara Day—a time when we commemorate a pivotal moment in the city’s history and, at the same time, look toward the future we are building together. The date marks the arrival of Romanian administration in Timișoara in 1919, following a complex diplomatic process that took place after the end of World War I and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

107 years later, Timișoara Day is more than just a commemoration. It is a celebration of a city that was built through the coming together of communities, cultures, and generations—and which continues to transform its diversity into one of its most important resources.

This year’s theme—Diversity—speaks to this open identity and to the different ways in which each of us experiences and discovers Timișoara. Under the slogan “One City. A Thousand Ways to Experience It,” Timișoara Day brings together music, heritage, art, sports, urban experiences, and communities, transforming the entire city into a space for gathering and celebration.
