The project "Hans Judenkünig - Extensio", which runs from June 10 to November 20, 2025, investigates and valorizes the repertoire for lute from the 16th century, starting from the Judenkünig manuscript preserved in the National Archives in Brasov. Through an integrated series of educational, artistic and scientific activities, the project brings this rare musical source into a dialog with contemporary technology and current artistic expression.

At the start of the project, an open call for the selection of participating students will be launched, addressed to young musicians from the Faculty of Music and Theater in Timișoara. They will be involved in research, musical transcription, rehearsals and live performances in sessions coordinated by:

Caius Hera, musician and teacher, president of the Timisoara Baroque Festival,
Prof. Dr. Simona Negru, vice-dean of the Timisoara FMT,
Prof. Dr. habil. Erich Türk, "Gh. Dima" Cluj-Napoca,
Lect. univ. dr. Ion Viorel Dorobanțu, FMT Timișoara.

The project includes:

  • construction of a renaissance lute and 3D replicas,
  • 10 coordinated rehearsals,
  • 3 thematic concerts in heritage venues (Baroque Palace, Orpheum Hall, Elisabetin Church),
  • a special concert for Timisoara's Day,
  • a scientific communication session,
  • a collective volume (200 copies), completed with 10 original graphic works,
  • digital archiving and online dissemination of results.

Through direct access to applied research, period performance and interdisciplinary collaboration, the project provides a practical and innovative framework for students' artistic training - connecting musical heritage with the creative present.
