Rita Ora and Passenger, two of the most appreciated international artists of the moment, are coming to Timisoara for the first time on Saturday, August 17, 2024, where they will perform a concert in the Civic Park (I. C. Brătianu Boulevard), during the second edition of the "City Celebration" event. The band Zdob și Zdub will also take the stage on August 17 with an exceptional concert.
"City Celebration" will start on Friday, August 16, 2024 and until Sunday, August 18, 2024 will offer the public over 170 events in 24 different categories: from rock, jazz, punk rock concerts, to electronic music, theater and dance performances, from sports events to exhibitions, installations and performances, from spoken word shows to silent disco parties, competitions or workshops, workshops, guided tours, etc. The full program of this year's edition can be found here.
In an absolute premiere for events in Timisoara, the main location of the event will include the Civic Park, the I.C Brătianu Park and Boulevard, a central area of Timișoara, with an area of over 20,000 square meters, which will host for the first time an event of such a large scale. The events of the program will also take place in other event venues in Timișoara, located on the banks of the Bega canal, upstream and downstream.
For the event to take place safely and in good conditions, a series of order measures and traffic restrictions have been taken by the competent institutions.
"The mission to ensure public order measures for "City Celebration" event will be led and coordinated by the Timis County Gendarmerie Inspectorate, in an integrated system, together with colleagues from the Timisoara Mobile Gendarmerie Group, Timis County Police Inspectorate, the Organized Crime Brigade, the National Anti-Drug Agency, ISU Banat and colleagues from the General Directorate of Local Police Timisoara. The epicenter of the event will be on August 17, a day when Rita Ora, Passenger and Zdob and Zdub will be on stage, which will surely gather a large audience, an audience that the organizer estimates at a total of 30,000 participants. We have a set-up ready to handle around 35,000 participants, or more if the operational situation requires it. There is certainly the possibility of resizing it so that we can act quickly. There will be about 100 gendarmes and 30 vehicles, including public order, dialogue, research and documentation teams, prevention and combating anti-social acts, anti-terrorist and special action teams, without which we could not organize this mission, and of course the K9 units, with our dogs specialized in drug detection and intervention." - said Major Iordache Marius Iordache, County Gendarmerie Inspectorate "General Moise Groza" Timiș
