As part of the Ziua Timișoarei | Timișoara City Celebration programme, Timișoara Jazz Festival returns to St. Catherine Church in the Cetate district, continuing the collaboration launched last year and bringing contemporary jazz projects into a space where architectural heritage and live music naturally come together.

This year's guest is SHRI (Shri Sriram), an award-winning composer, multi-instrumentalist and one of the pioneers of the British Asian underground music scene. Recipient of the 2016 BASCA British Composer Award for Just A Vibration, SHRI has developed a distinctive musical language that blends jazz and rock improvisation, bass-string tabla techniques, electronic textures and richly melodic soundscapes. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with renowned international artists and performed on stages around the world.

SHRI's solo performance makes full use of the intimate atmosphere and exceptional acoustics of St. Catherine Church, offering a unique musical experience where improvisation, expression, space and sound become part of the same artistic dialogue.

The Banat Jazz Cultural Foundation organizes the Timișoara Jazz Festival, a project dedicated to promoting contemporary jazz and developing the music scene in Timișoara. Through the festival, concerts, and cultural projects held throughout the year, the foundation creates opportunities for Romanian and international artists to come together, encourages interdisciplinary dialogue, and helps strengthen the city’s cultural profile by bringing music to diverse venues and to as wide an audience as possible.
