The story of Queen Marie of Romania’s political role and fascinating private life. A granddaughter of Queen Victoria, she married the Crown Prince of Romania in 1893. We will see how she led the country through the horrors of World War I, all the way to victory at the 1919 Paris Peace Conference. The film does not shy away from the less glamorous aspects of the Queen’s life. Her son, Carol, despised his parents, and when he became King, he banished Maria from the court. And when the communists came to power in 1945, they erased her from history.
