The exhibition “feels like it stopped raining” proposes an encounter with those difficult-to-define yet deeply familiar moments in which a state slowly shifts, and the world seems to rearrange itself around it. The artists invite us to approach these forms of sensitivity and to inhabit, if only for a moment, their suspended space, marked by the poetics of the ephemeral and by the Duchampian idea of the infra-thin (“infra-mince”): cast shadows, the warmth of a chair someone sat on before you, a reflection in the mirror, the distance between the sound of a fired bullet and the effect it produces, the mist of steam settling on the surface of objects, the sound of corduroy trousers while walking.

The closing event of the exhibition proposes a guided tour led by a specialized mediator and one final opportunity to “listen” to those almost imperceptible transformations that occur when something changes within us.
The Art Encounters Foundation was established in 2015 with the main purpose of supporting Romanian contemporary art and placing Timișoara on the map of high-quality cultural events in Central and Eastern Europe. The first event organized was the 2015 Art Encounters Biennial, which formed the basis of the Encounters route included in Timișoara’s application dossier for the title of European Capital of Culture. The event truly became a biennial starting with the 2017 edition. Since 2018, Art Encounters has developed a permanent program, and the Foundation’s activities have focused on three major directions: organizing the Art Encounters Biennial and the permanent program; supporting education and audience development through educational programs; and developing a strong residency program for artists and curators.
