Timisoara Jazz Festival presents, within Timișoara City Celebration, a recital, a preview in Timisoara, performed by two international artists on the rise: Shuteen Erdenebaatar (Mongolia) and Nils Kugelmann (Germany). The concert will take place on August 2, from 11:00 a.m., in the Church of St. Catherine of the Cetate - a space with a special acoustic, suitable for the sonic finesse of this duo.

Shuteen Erdenebaatar & Nils Kugelmann aduc jazzul internațional în Biserica Sfânta Ecaterina Cetate

It's a rare opportunity to hear a live concert preview, bringing together contemporary jazz, classical influences and the sound of the contra-alto clarinet - an instrument rarely seen on European stages. The German press describes their music as "the best thing you can hear at the moment" (SWR), and Rondo magazine notes: "The sun is rising again and again".

Shuteen Erdenebaatar, piano and composition, is one of the most promising voices in jazz today. Educated in Mongolia and Germany, she is a laureate of the German Jazz Award, the BMW Young Artist Jazz Award and the holder of the most important Mongolian cultural award - the Mungun Mod.

Nils Kugelmann, contra alto clarinet, Bb clarinet, bass clarinet and composition, is known on the major jazz scenes of Europe for his versatility and depth of musical expression. He has received numerous awards and a nomination for the German Record Critics' Award.

Mongolia's infinite vastness meets love of groove. Classical intuition meets the lightness of jazz. These contrasts can be found in the music of the two artists, who began their journey in classical music and composition before discovering their passion for jazz. Since 2023, following solo successes, Shuteen and Nils have been performing together as a duo, exploring soundscapes influenced by jazz, film music, contemporary classical and pop. The August 2 recital marks the preview of tracks from Stars Among Us - their debut album as a duo, scheduled for release in September 2025 on the Motéma (New York) label.

The concert is part of the Timisoara City Celebration program, organized by the Timisoara Centre for Projects and the House of Culture of the Municipality of Timisoara. Admission is free, subject to availability.

All events in the main location (Civic Park, Park and I.C. Brătianu Boulevard) are free entrance. The program may be subject to changes beyond the organizers' will.

The "Timișoara City Celebration" event is funded by the Municipality of Timisoara, coordinated and co-organized by the Centre for Projects and the House of Culture.
