Built in the mid-17 1700s as a neighborhood of craftsmen, mills and distilleries, Fabricul has had a spectacular evolution. By the mid-1800s, there were already dozens of factories here, and the neighborhood's population outnumbered that of all other neighborhoods combined. The early 1900s brought architecturally gorgeous apartment buildings. Until World War I, Fabricul was vibrant with shops, cafes, breweries, restaurants and hotels. After the two wars, the "Golden Age" and the period of transition, the Fabric district fell into increasingly decaying. What is the situation now? Is there hope for Fabric to regain its shine and, if so, how might that happen?
