Directed by celebrated Argentinean artist, writer and theater-maker Lola Arias, known for the way she weaves fact with fiction, Reas is one of the most courageous and inventive queer releases of 2024, and a Berlinale award-winner.
The film starts from a theater workshop held in a Buenos Aires prison, where prisoners are invited to reimagine their future. From this exercise in collective creation emerged a hybrid movie that combines performance, music and dance in a deeply liberating artistic language. Reas becomes a stage and cinematic confession about trauma, dreams and personal reconstruction.
It is a movie in which genre boundaries dissolve and the past is reconfigured through fiction - not as escapism, but as a gesture of reclamation. With a particular humor, tenderness and brutal force, Reas brings to the audience a cathartic vision of friendship, queer solidarity and the power to transform personal story into artistic manifesto.
An invitation to empathy, courage and hope - to live together.
