The second edition of the "City Celebration" event, part of the legacy of the TImișoara 2023 - European Capital of Culture Program, ended on Sunday, August 18, 2024. For three days, from Friday, August 16, until Sunday, August 18, over 55,000 Timisoara residents and tourists from Romania and abroad, participated in the more than 170 events in the program. The highlight of the event took place  on Saturday night, when the concerts of Rita Ora, Passenger and Zdob and Zdub we attended by over 35,000 people.

The community of event creators gathered at City Celebration

Conceived since the first edition as a platform event, which would bring together the community of creators and producers of events in Timișoara to demonstrate the unique strength of Timișoara and the potential that the city has in organizing large-scale events, this year's "City Celebration" edition brought together 71 organizations active in the cultural, sports and community sectors and seven well-known festivals of Timisoara.

The program of the edition, almost double the number of events compared to the previous edition, brought together over 170 events from 24 different categories: sports activities, workshops, concerts, competitions, courses, debates, DJ sets, live electronics, community events, exhibitions, festivals, installations, sound installations, artistic interventions, performances, presentations, film screenings, silent disco, dance performances, theater performances, spoken word, tours, guided tours, artist talks.

The main location of the event, with an area of ​​approximately 30,000 square meters: Civic Park, I.C. Brătianu Park and Boulevard activated for the first time for events in Timișoara, vibrated on Saturday evening when over 35,000 people attended the concerts of Rita Ora, Passenger and Zdob și Zdub and offered for three days the perfect setting for fun and spending free time for all categories public, from the children to the seniors.

Complex measures to make the event accessible

The Timișoara Center for Projects, in partnership with the Asociația Supereroi printre noi, Ceva de Spus, Fundația de Abilitare Speranța, Un Loc continued also this year the accessibility efforts of the "City Celebration" event. People with various disabilities could enjoy the concerts on the main stage by Zdob and Zdob, Passenger and Rita Ora.

For people with motor disabilities, a visibility platform was placed in the main location, which would thus offer the possibility to people who use wheelchairs, to see the concerts in good conditions. For the hearing impaired, all three concerts were translated into Romanian sign language by the interpreters Lavinia Chitu and Denis Blidaru. Over 25,000 visitors on the celebrare-timisoara.ro website. 

Since its launch, the official website of the event celebrare-timisoara.ro has registered over 25,000 visitors who made over 145,000 visits to the site between June and August 2024. 93% of the traffic registered on the site was carried out using mobile devices.

5.1 million unique users saw the messages from the promotional campaign

The online promotion campaign reached approximately 5.1 million unique users (Reach), who saw the promotion messages on the social media channels used: Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google, YouTube and TikTok. This means that messages promoting the ‘’City Celebration’’ event reached 5.1 million unique people, each of whom was exposed to content about the event at least once on social media.

Volunteer teams, the engine of the entire event

An important contribution to the organization of this year's far-reaching edition was made by the volunteer teams. Volunteers joined this year's edition of the event and supported the efforts of the organizers with passion, dedication and responsibility, in all essential departments of the event, from stage production, to backstage, from communication, to assistance in the event locations.
